Two first responders suffered injuries after their ambulance overturned in Snow Hill on Sunday.
Officials at the Snow Hill Fire Department said the accident happened at 7:45 a.m. on Highway 258 North and Newell Road.

According to the Pink Hill Fire and Rescue, the ambulance was on its way back to Goldsboro from dropping off a patient in Greenville when the accident occurred.   The driver ran off the road and lost control.  No other vehicles were involved and no patients were onboard.

Emergency crews said when they arrived at the accident scene, they found an overturned Wayne County ambulance with two injured first responders inside. The driver and passenger were taken to Vidant Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

According to Pink Hill Fire and Rescue, one of the people injured was one of its officers. The department's Facebook page said he's suffering from a broken C1 in the neck and three broken ribs.

Fire officials said he should be out of the hospital in the next few days.
