DRIVER DEAD, 2 HOMES EVACUATED DUE TO PROPANE LEAK AFTER PROPANE TRUCK FLIPS TO ITS SIDE IN LAMAR COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI

FEBRUARY 28, 2015

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM)

One man is dead after wrecking a propane gas truck in Lamar County around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

According to Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel, the accident occurred at the intersection of old Highway 11 and Pistol Ridge Road south of Purvis.

Rigel said a vapor leak was caused by the accident, and two homes in the area have been evacuated.

Officials have blocked off the intersection of Hwy 11 and Deavers Road as a precaution.

The identity of the victim will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.

This accident is still under investigation.

These propane tanker trucks roll over or flip like puppies if the driver is not careful and makes a sudden stop or speeds while making a turn or makes an evasive maneuver or changes lanes too fast or if the truck has bad brakes and so on.
