Four men were killed in a crash between a Chevy van and
a semi-truck shortly before 6 p.m. Friday on American Avenue near Navelencia
Avenue in Reedley, CHP officer Brian Wendland said.
The men were riding in a Chevy Astro van along with five
other men when they struck the front of a semi-truck as it was attempting to
turn left onto Navelencia Avenue from American Avenue, Wendland said. The five
remaining men were transported to Community Regional Medical Center, he said.
The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.
The van appeared only to have seats for eight
passengers, Wendland said. He expected the roadway to be blocked off for
several hours but reopen by Saturday morning.
No additional information was immediately available
Friday evening.
