High Potential Near Miss – Safety Retention Clamp Dropped 40 feet on the GSF Grand Banks drilling rig

Husky Energy has reported a high potential near miss that occurred on the GSF Grand Banks drilling rig on October 16, 2014.  A 3 lb hang off line safety retention clamp dropped approximately 40 ft to the drill floor. There were no injuries. A Time Out for Safety was taken, rig operations were suspended and a safety stand down was communicated by the Offshore Installation Manager to the drill team once the rig floor was secure. Husky is investigating the incident.











The GSF Grand Banks has been drilling at the North Amethyst oilfield.
