A freight train collided with a semi truck at a railroad
crossing near a Riverside industrial park Friday morning, Cincinnati police
said.
The driver of a semi truck was unaware of an approaching train
when he crossed railroad tracks at about 11 a.m. at 4837 River Road, Riverside,
Ohio, officials said. The truck's trailer did not clear the path of the train
in time and the train engine plowed into it, authorities said.
The condition of the train and truck operators was not
confirmed.
Debris was still present at the crash site at about 8 p.m.
The crossing where Friday's crash occurred is one of several
railroad crossings along River Road. Some of the crossings are unmarked while
others feature some form of signage or signal.
The National Transportation Safety Board, which investigates
train crashes, did not respond to The Enquirer's request for comment.
