North Highlands house fire ruled arson
Flames charred a North Highlands home Tuesday morning.
No one was home at the time.
Firefighters kept flames from neighboring homes.
Sacramento Metro Fire District estimated damage to the two-story home in the 6800 block of Silverthorne Circle at $300,000.
Fire investigators also said the fire was intentionally set.
Anyone who has information about the arson was urged to call the fire district's tip line at (916) 859–3775. Callers can remain anonymous.

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
One person has died after a collision between a Stockton
Fire Department truck and a sports utility vehicle in Stockton Tuesday morning.
The male victim was the passenger in the SUV. He was
transported to an area hospital but did not survive his injuries, Stockton
police said.
The fire truck was traveling on northbound Filbert Street in
response to a call, according to police responders. The silver SUV was headed
on westbound Myrtle Street to enter Highway 4 when the two vehicles crashed in
the intersection.
The driver of the SUV was injured as were three fire
department personnel in the truck. All have been transported to the hospital.
Police posted the injured were all alert and conscious.
It wasn't clear who was at fault in the wreck. Investigators
said the fire truck was responding to a call regarding an allergic reaction at
Fillmore Elementary School and had its siren and lights activated.
The Filbert Street off ramp from Highway 4 and
Filbert/Myrtle intersection was closed until just before 4 p.m. for the crash
cleanup and investigation.

BELLEFONTAINE, OHIO
A state contractor was critically injured when his vehicle
was rammed in the back by a semitrailer in Bellefontaine.
By mid-afternoon, the area of U.S. 33 and U.S. 68 was only
partially open to traffic after the 10 a.m. crash, according to the Ohio State
Highway Patrol Marysville Post.
Troopers continue to investigate at the scene and the
wreckage was still in the clean up stages at 2:30 p.m.
OSHP states a 2015 Mack tractor-trailer rear-ended a 2007
Isuzu commercial truck that was stopped on westbound U.S. 33 directing traffic
to the left lane.
The Isuzu’s driver was working on contract with the Ohio
Department of Transportation. He was taken by CareFlight and is listed in
critical condition at the OSU Medical Center, according to OSHP.
OSHP identified the semi driver as 58-year-old Kenneth E.
Parker, of Columbus.
It’s unclear whether he was seriously injured.
The Isuzu driver has not been identified.

A motorist was killed and a highway worker injured Monday
when a car crashed into a road sweeper in Calumet County, according to the
Wisconsin State Patrol.
The crash was reported shortly before 2 p.m. on eastbound
State Highway 10/114 in the Town of Harrison, according to a news release from
the state patrol.
According to the release, the sweeper was on the shoulder of
the road behind two road graders when it was struck from behind by a 2009 Ford
Fusion driven by a 28-year-old man from Appleton, who was the sole occupant of
the vehicle.
The motorist who was killed when the car he was driving struck the rear of a road sweeper in Calumet County was identified by the Wisconsin State Patrol Tuesday as Andrew William Graverson, 28, of Appleton.

The driver of the car was killed and the operator of the
road sweeper, a 50-year-old man from Hilbert, was flown by helicopter to a
hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

A construction worker was injured on ECU's campus Tuesday
afternoon.
Officials say it happened when debris fell from Gateway Hall
and hit a worker.
He was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening
injuries.
