HAZ MAT CREWS CALLED TO LEAKING CYLINDERS AT AIR PRODUCTS IN PENNSYLVANIA

Crews were called Friday morning to Air Products in Upper Macungie Township for two leaking cylinders outside the building, according to police radio reports. 

Around 11:15 a.m., fire crews were called to the company at 7201 Hamilton Blvd. for a fire on a loading dock. Crews arrived and found no fire, but said there are two leaking cylinders.

Hazmat crews were called to help contain the leaks and all the employees have been evacuated from the building, according to a Lehigh County 911 dispatcher. No injuries have been reported. 

Initial radio reports said the cylinders were carrying carbon monoxide and hydrogen.

By 11:40 A.M., fire crews reported the leaking cylinders had been shut down.

A 48-year-old New Jersey man died Thursday morning when his semitrailer rolled on Interstate 680 north of Council Bluffs.

The Iowa State Patrol said Jeffrey Hall of North Brunswick died after he was ejected from the 2005 International semi in the 6:55 a.m. accident on westbound I-680 near Beebeetown.

Hall veered left off I-680 into the median, the patrol said, and as he swerved back onto westbound I-680 the semi’s trailer struck a guardrail and the semi rolled onto its left side and into a ditch.

Two Gainesville men were killed early Friday after the sedan they were traveling in was broadsided on Northwest 39th Avenue by a cement truck with a full load. 

On Friday afternoon, the Gainesville Police Department identified those killed as John Lee Little Jr., 24, the driver of the Lincoln Town Car; and Donte’ Mandel Bradley-Faulk, 23, a passenger.

Also in the car, Terrell Marquis Bradley, 23, of Gainesville, was critically injured; and Rodrick Marvin Thompson Jr., 23, of Gainesville, received non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the cement truck, 33-year-old Jamie M. Reed, of Gainesville, received minor injuries and will not face charges from the crash, said Officer Ben Tobias, a GPD spokesman. 

Residents who live near the intersection of 39th Avenue and 19th Street said they heard a loud explosion at 3:53 a.m. GPD accident investigators said the car, which was going north on 19th Street, attempted a left turn onto 39th Avenue and crossed into the path of the truck as it traveled east.

Debris was scattered across the five-lane thoroughfare. The mangled Lincoln was pushed roughly 400 feet to the east, where the conjoined vehicles came to rest in a left turn lane. The speed limit on that stretch of 39th Avenue is 45 mph; however, the speed of the truck was still being determined late Friday morning. There were no skid marks indicating that either driver attempted to stop before the collision occurred. 

“That truck pretty much rolled to a stop,” Tobias said. “There were no brakes used.”

Quince Orchard Road and Quince Orchard Boulevard. Two people suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash after the fire truck and car collided. The people were transported to the hospital around noon.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (WUSA9) -- Fire crews were busy on Friday afternoon responding to the scene of a townhouse fire and a fire truck accident.

Firefighters responded to the unit block of Midline Court in Gaithersburg to battle a townhouse fire. Montgomery County fire spokesperson Pete Piringer says firefighters saw smoke showing from the middle-of-the-row townhouse. They were able to extinguish the fire.

Piringer says two people were able to escape the home without injury after being alerted by the smoke alarms in the home.

Two people and two cats were displaced due to the fire, which left behind $30,000 in damage, according to Piringer.

The cause has been determined to be electrical in nature, says Piringer.
