Three workers injured in accident at Kia plant in Mexico

Three workers were injured at a new Kia Motors factory in northern Mexico on Saturday, after one fell into a sewer ditch and two others attempted a rescue but were also hurt, the head of emergency services said.
Luis Felipe Puente, Mexico's national director of emergency services, told Reuters that no explosion had taken place and the workers were being treated at a local hospital.
A local emergency services official earlier said there had been an explosion, but later said that was not the case.
Kia Motors started production at the $1 billion factory last month and plans to increase its total production capacity to 300,000 vehicles a year, from this year's projected 100,000.
It is located just outside the industrial city of Monterrey in the town of Pesqueria.
A local spokesman for the South Korean carmaker did not immediately return calls seeking additional information.

TUSCON, AZ An early Saturday morning domestic violence call turned deadly after a 26-year-old man barricaded himself in his northwest Tucson home.
Foothills District sheriff’s deputies were able to get family members of John Karamargin out of the home after responding to the 1400 block of West Chapala Drive around 3:30 a.m. However, after trying to make contact with Karamargin, an explosion inside the home started a fire, according to a release from the Pima County Sheriff’s Office.
The Mountain Vista Fire Department extinguished the fire, and shortly thereafter Karamargin’s body was found by deputies inside the home.
The sheriff’s office homicide unit has taken over the investigation, according to the release.
Deputy Courtney Rodriguez, a sheriff’s spokeswoman, said the fire was kept to inside of the home, where damage was extensive.

LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard together with members of Ventura County Air Squad 9 rescued two divers off the west side of Anacapa Island Saturday at 10:55 a.m.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a call from the 85-foot commercial dive vessel, Spectre at 10 a.m., stating that a 40-year-old female was unresponsive and foaming at the mouth after coming up from a dive. Shortly after, the same dive vessel reported a 40-year-old male also unresponsive with blood shot eyes after coming up from a dive.
The Coast Guard immediately launched a 45-foot Response Boat — Medium boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Channel Islands and an MH-65D helicopter from Coast Guard Forward Operating Base Point Mugu to assist in the rescue. Members of the Station Channel Islands boatcrew safely transferred the individuals to their vessel. Ventura County Air Squad 9 arrived on scene and hoisted the two individuals from the vessel.
Both divers were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.

Fishing vessel GITTE HENNING reported 25 degree starboard list and a blackout at 1420 LT June 18, 7 nm south of Lindesnes lighthouse, west of Kristiansand, Norway. Rescue vessel and tug were sent to assist. Meanwhile, crew managed to relocate cargo to get the vessel on even keel. Understood shift of the cargo was the cause of mishap.
