One dead in workplace accident in Scotland County

Scotland County, N.C. (WPDE) — 


One person has died following a workplace accident this week on the jobsite of Edwards Mill Products in Laurinburg , according to N.C. Department of Labor Public Information Officer Mary Katherine Revels.

Revels said the person’s employer is Quality Construction of America Inc.

Revels sent the following statement in an email about the matter:

“The preliminary information we have available at this time is: employees were installing a log deck and were putting plates between the metal deck runners. While the decedent was adjusting one, a tack broke and the employee fell about 17-18 feet through the deck runners. The employee later died at the hospital. The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Division with the N.C. Department of Labor will be investigating.”?

This is the second deadly workplace accident this year in Scotland County.
