Worker dies after falling down elevator shaft at Budget Parking Garage in Downtown Seattle, WA






SEATTLE, WA -- Homicide detectives are investigating after a worker fell to his death Sunday morning at a Downtown Seattle business.


Police say someone called 911 at about 8 a.m. Sunday to say an employee had died at a business in the 1500 block of 5th Avenue.  The exact address is Budget Parking Garage, 1919 5th Avenue, Seattle, WA, Phone: (206) 623-8700.

Police say it appears the victim, identified only as a man in his 40s, fell to his death. In a Sunday morning Tweet, the Seattle Fire Department said the victim fell roughly 30 feet down an elevator shaft.

Investigators have not said if anything about the fall seems suspicious, but homicide detectives are investigating the death.

Both the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will also be investigating, according to police.
