WEST PALM BEACH — An unidentified man working on a crew pouring concrete near Palm Beach International Airport was killed Saturday morning when the concrete truck rolled over onto him, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

A cement truck lays on its side on Belvedere Road in West Palm Beach after rolling over in an accident that killed one person on August 6, 2016.

The crew was reportedly preparing to pour a concrete curb near the site of a new gas station on Belvedere Road between Congress Avenue and Florida Mango Road when the truck tipped onto its passenger’s side, crushing the employee.

The cause of the rollover, which took place at about 10 a.m., was unknown Saturday afternoon. The victim was the concrete finisher, sheriff’s spokeswoman Teri Barbera said. The name of the company for whom the victim worked was unavailable Saturday.

At the time of the accident, conditions were overcast and the roadway appeared to be slick from a recent morning rain.

The incident report will be forwarded to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Barbera said. OSHA is expected to perform its own review of the incident.

Eastbound traffic on Belvedere Road was temporarily down to one lane while sheriff’s officials investigated the wreck.
