Tavares Mayor Robert Wolfe accused of insurance fraud

Tavares Mayor Robert Wolfe was arrested Wednesday night on an insurance-fraud charge, an official said.
Wolfe is accused of filing false claims with his insurance company for damage to his home and receiving $9,300 as a result.
The Florida Department of Financial Services investigated Wolfe and gave its findings to the State Attorney's Office, said Walter Forgie, supervising assistant state attorney in Lake County.
Forgie said Wolfe claimed to have vacated his home because of the damage, which wasn't true.
Forgie said his office filed a warrant for his arrest based on the findings, adding the warrant was not available to be released publicly Wednesday night.
Wolfe turned himself in and was booked in the Lake County Jail Wednesday night in his latest brush with the law.

He was arrested in May following a drunken fight with his wife, Sharon, where she accused him of pushing her and firing a gun inside their Lakeshore Boulevard home, records show. The charges were later dropped.
Sharon Wolfe was arrested two weeks later for allegedly lying to investigators about the incident.
She recanted the story and told officials the gun went off as Robert Wolfe was cleaning it and did not fire it on purpose. She said he was not drunk and they were not arguing, officials said.
She was also sentenced to one year of probation in March stemming from a January incident when she allegedly hit her twin sister over the head with an oscillating fan and a fraternity paddle.
Records show she has been arrested three other times in Lake County between 2010 and 2011 for charges including driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash with damage and possession of narcotics without a prescription.
Obviously this guy is not in the right mind to be mayor.
