OSHA investigating ADM worker fatality in Clinton, Iowa
CLINTON, IOWA — An employee's death this weekend at ADM is under investigation.
A representative from the Iowa Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) confirmed today the incident is under investigation.
An ADM spokesperson said an ADM employee was fatally injured at 8 a.m. Saturday in an accident at the company's railroad switchyard in Clinton.
According to an obituary published in today's Clinton Herald, Glenn E. Jones Jr., 60, died Saturday at his place of employment. The obituary says Jones Jr. was an employee at ADM for 36 years, the last 15 years on the switch crew.
The Clinton Terminal is located on the Upper Mississippi River at mile marker 518. The site is served by the UP, CP and BNSF railroads. Capabilities include bulk material handling. Facilities include dry bulk barge dock—ground and covered storage.
The spokesperson said ADM representatives are in contact with the family and "providing help and support during this difficult time." Employee assistance will be provided to affected colleagues.
"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague, and our thoughts are with his family and friends," an ADM spokesperson said.
ADM is working with officials to determine the cause of the fatality. The ADM representative said they "appreciate the quick response and support of the Clinton police and fire departments during the incident."
No other details were available through OSHA.
