General cargo vessel BBC BERGEN was intercepted by Greek Coast Guard on June 9 in Aegean sea, while en route from Burgas, Bulgaria, to Uruguay, and ordered to sail to Piraeus anchorage, for cargo check.
Two containers with arms and ammunition, destined for Montevideo, Uruguay, reportedly didn’t have all required papers, ship’s crew didn’t have special license or permission to carry arms on board. How exactly did Greek CG found out about those containers, remains unknown.
Vessel anchored at Piraeus anchorage in the evening June 9, resumed voyage at night June 10. How the problem was settled and what happened to containers, is unknown.
