UPDATE: COAST GUARD RESPONDING TO FLOODING IN WASHINGTON PARISH
NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard rescued a man and a dog from a rooftop in Washington Parish, Friday.

A Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans transported the man and dog to Hammond. No injuries were reported.


Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a request at 8:39 a.m., for assistance in rescuing victims of flooding in the cities around Washington Parish. The watchstanders directed the launch of a helicopter crew to assist with rescues.

The Coast Guard has received reports that multiple people may be stranded on rooftops due to flooding around the Muster Ground Creek and Pearl River area.
