An Italian electrician has been killed on board the Carnival Ecstasy while working on an elevator.
Few details have been revealed about the cause of the accident which occurred during a three-day cruise from Miami.
Local media report Miami-Dade police as having identified the man as 66-year-old Jose Sandoval Opazo of Liguria, Italy.
Passengers report seeing blood running down the elevator as staff attempted to secure the scene. An investigation is underway.
The accident occurred last Sunday.
