COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA
A Council Bluffs worker died Friday morning when he became trapped in the wheel well of a vehicle being repaired.
Andy Stroud, 32, of Omaha was identified as the man killed by Council Bluffs investigators. They tell WOWT 6 News that he had worked at the 275 Truck Service station near 11th Street and 32nd Avenue for three years.
Police and medical personnel were called to his work around 9:15 a.m. By the time help arrived, the victim's body had been removed from underneath the vehicle by co-workers.
The employee was working on the suspension system of a volunteer fire department ambulance looking for a leak. He was between the wheel and the body of the ambulance when the suspension system failed for unknown reasons, trapping him underneath.
Police are still investigating the incident.
