PAVILION, NEW YORK
A milk tanker truck headed west on Route 20 was struck by a car at the intersection of Perry road late Saturday afternoon.
The truck's fuel tank was ripped from the cab as it went off the northwest side of the road and overturned on the driver's side into a ditch.
About 75 gallons of diesel fuel spilled mostly onto the road and into the ditch.
The Oldsmobile Cutlass was headed north on Perry road and did stop at the stop sign. The driver of the car then continued on into the intersection and struck the westbound milk tanker.
The driver said she did not see the truck.
Both drivers were sent to Strong Hospital with minor injuries.
The female driver of the car had to be extricated. The driver of the truck was able to get out of his demolished cab on his own and was walking around on scene.
The driver of the car will be charged with failure to yield the right of way in an intersection.
The road remained closed late Saturday evening to offload 31,000 pounds of milk and upright the truck.
