Coast Guard crews were busy today retrieving long line fishing gear that was set illegally over the weekend. The total length of line retrieved was 7.5 miles and the catch included 170 sharks, and 89 snapper, all dead.
Illegal fishing continues to plague South Texas waters and all boaters are encouraged to report suspicious or illegal fishing in state waters (out to 9 miles offshore) to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s “Operation Game Thief” at 1-800-792-GAME (4263).
