Firefighters from around the region continue to battle a large warehouse fire that can be seen for miles.
The warehouse is located on Livingston Avenue and is part of an auto dealer’s complex. Smoke billowing around the scene can be seen throughout central and southern Middlesex County as well as northern Monmouth County.
The vast warehouse contains different businesses, according to news reports. Hundreds of firefighters from around the region, including Middlesex, Somerset and Morris counties are on the scene, surrounding the perimeter, pouring water on the blaze. Authorities say car parts, tires, and cars in the warehouse have added to the fire’s intensity, and firefighters say the fire may continue to burn into Thursday.
Authorities have evacuated residents nearby apartment complexes, including the North Brunswick Manor and the Hearthwood condominiums, to nearby schools as a precaution.
The ramp leading to Livingston Avenue from Route 1 North is closed, as well as Route 26 at Route 1. Expect delays.
