Male Worker, 53, dies after fall at Profile Industrial Packaging in Walker, Michigan

WALKER, Mich. (AP) - 

A male worker died following an accidental fall at Profile Industrial Packaging in Walker on Wednesday morning.

It happened around 9:50 a.m. at at the company’s new headquarters in the Avastar industrial park off Alpine Avenue NW north of Ann Street. According to the Walker Police Department, officers who responded to the scene found a 53-year-old man “who appeared to have fallen from a height.”

The man was taken to the hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
His name was not released Wednesday evening.

In a statement, the president of Profile Industrial Packaging did not provide further details about what led up to the death of the “long-time, beloved employee.”

An afternoon email from a spokesperson for the state Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs said the Michigan Occupational Safety & Health Administration (MIOSHA) is investigating, and that the investigation could take weeks or even months. Profile said it is cooperating.

Profile Industrial Packaging President Steve Ehmann provided this statement Wednesday evening:
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic accident this morning and passing of one of our long-time, beloved employees. We are cooperating fully with authorities in the investigation. No words can adequately express our sympathies. The safety of our associates is our number-one priority. As we continue to investigate, our thoughts and prayers go out to our team member’s family and we are respecting their need for privacy at this difficult time.”
