The device, a small single-seater aircraft crashed at about 20: 45 pm Friday night, close to the track Bonaventure Airport. Police found the death of the driver on the spot.

The Bureau of Transportation Safety Board (TSB) confirms that this is an amateur-built aircraft. A TSB team is in Bonaventure to examine the aircraft and determine whether further investigation should be conducted.

According to the regional manager for Quebec TSB, Jean-Marc Ledoux, it is too early to speculate on the causes of the crash.

Mr Ledoux, however, that the amateur-built aircraft are not necessarily less safe.

"In Quebec, there are many people who have this type of device then says Ledoux. I could not say that it is less safe. It all depends on [how] it the owner maintenance. If he follows the rules, there is no problem. "
