REALLY BAD LUCK: DEER IS HIT BY CAR, GOES AIRBORNE, CRASHES THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD OF A TRUCK, KILLING THE TRUCK DRIVER

MAY 19, 2015

EUGENE, OREGON

Passing motorists attempted CPR on a delivery truck driver who was unconscious and not breathing after a deer hit by a different car crashed through the windshield of his delivery truck Tuesday morning, Oregon State Police said.
Medics rushed Jesse Bastien, 37, of Eugene to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The crash happened just before 9 a.m. on Highway 126 near Greenhill Road.

Lt. Lang Hinkle said an eastbound car hit a deer in the road.

The impact sent the deer airborne into the path of Bastien's truck.

The deer knocked in the driver's side windshield and hit Bastien, Hinkle said.

Bastien's truck came to a stop on the side of the road.

Passing motorists started CPR until medics arrived.

The crash response closed both lane of Highway 126, requiring a detour for traffic.

Police expected westbound lanes to remain closed until 1 p.m. or until the investigation is complete.

This is a really tough break for this fellow.  RIP.
