PIPER PA-22 PLANE MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING IN ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MISSOURI

A small plane lost power and landed short of the runway at the St. Charles County Smartt Airport Tuesday night.

The St. Charles County Police Department said the plane lost power and had a "rough landing" in a field just short of the runway. They also said the pilot was able to walk away from the scene.

The National Transportation Safety Board sent a crew to the scene and have "cleared the scene" according to the police.

The aircraft force landed following a loss of engine power shortly after takeoff from St Charles County Smartt Airport (KSET), St Charles, Missouri. The airplane experienced a collapse of the right main landing, sustaining minor damage. The two occupants onboard the aircraft were not injured.
