SPENCERPORT, NEW YORK
A New York state Department of Transportation worker was
injured in a fall from a ladder underneath the Union Street Bridge that crosses
the Erie Canal in the village of Spencerport Tuesday.
The man was transported by boat to a location where rescue
workers could safely lift him from the canal bed. He was taken to an area
hospital. There is only about 2-3 feet of water in the canal this time of year.
The accident occurred around 2 p.m.
The Monroe County Fire Bureau's Special Operations Unit
assisted the Spencerport Fire Department, Gates Fire Department, Ogden Police
and Gates Ambulance.
