INVERNESS, CITRUS COUNTY, FLORIDA

A small plane crashed into a house in Inverness Monday afternoon, according to the Citrus County Sheriff's Office.

Citrus County 911 dispatch center received a call about the crash at about 3:45 p.m. Deputies and Citrus County Fire Rescue crews responded to a home in the 700 block of Carnegie Drive.

They found a small single engine Beechcraft plane. Deputies said it clipped a power line and struck the back porch of the home before landing in the back yard.

The pilot Joseph Roger Smith, 75, was the only one on board. He was flown to a hospital with minor injuries. The homeowners were in the house but they were not injured.

Power crews are trying to fix power lines and to restore the power at the house.
