DRUNKS ARE OUT IN FORCE DURING THE WEEKENDS: DRIVER CHARGED IN DEADLY ORANGEBURG COUNTY CRASH IN SOUTH CAROLINA

MARCH 22, 2015

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WRDW)

South Carolina Highway patrol reports a two-car collision ended in one death on March 21 around 1:30 a.m.

Troopers say the cars, a 2001 Cadillac and a 2009 Chevrolet were traveling north on US Highway 21 near Branchville. The Chevrolet attempted to pass the Cadillac, and side-swiped the car when it swerved back in the lane, they say.

According to the Highway Patrol, the Chevrolet overturned, and the passenger was ejected and died.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Stephen Colter, 27, has been charged with felony DUI, troopers say.

The investigation by Highway Patrol and MAIT team is ongoing.
