TOWNLEY, ALABAMA

A tanker truck overturned on Alabama Highway 124 in Townley Thursday morning, spilling nearly 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel between the road and a nearby railroad track.

The accident occured around 10:30 a.m. in a curve near the intersection of Highway 124 and Pleasant Hill Road.

The rollover risk of tanker trucks is very significant.  If the driver is going fast when he takes that turn, then the tanker truck will overturn and rollover as it happened in this instance.  In fact, the road has signs for for a sharp turn.  Bad driving, all around.
