COLLEGE STATION - Two people were taken to the hospital after an early morning crash in College Station, Texas.


College Station Police say a driver and passenger riding in a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu were injured after their car rear-ended an 18-wheeler at the intersection of Harvey Mitchell Parkway South and George Bush Drive West.



That stretch of road was closed for about 4.5 hours after the accident happened at 3:43 A.M. New Year's Day.

The driver of the 18-wheeler wasn't hurt.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Two injured in wreck on Harvey Mitchell Parkway

Two people were taken to a local hospital after an car accident shut down Harvey Mitchell Parkway at George Bush Drive for more than four hours early Thursday.

Officers with the College Station Police Department responded to the intersection around 3:45 a.m. and reported finding a car had struck the rear of an 18-wheeler. The driver of the car and the passenger were taken to College Station Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.


The wreck remains under investigation.
