Authorities said nearly 40 employees were evacuated after an ammonia leak at a Pepsi plant in Mesquite early Wednesday morning.

Mesquite and Dallas hazmat crews responded to the plant in the 4500 block of Interstate 30 at about 2 a.m., authorities said.

Mesquite firefighters said crews isolated the small leak and reopened 90 percent of the plant within about two hours.

Officials said no businesses or neighborhoods were affected by the leak.

No injuries were reported.
