GLYCOL HEATERS (WATER BATH HEATERS) VS. BRUEST HOTCAT CATALYTIC HEATERS

Glycol Heaters (Water Bath Heaters) vs. Bruest HOTCAT Catalytic Heaters

If You're Considering a Water Bath Heater, Consider These Important Facts:

Glycol heaters use ethylene glycol, a clear, colorless chemical which has become more problematic as awareness of this substance, and its risks, becomes better understood by industry, the public, health professionals, and environmentalists.

When released into the soil, ethylene glycol can be expected to leach into groundwater, according to MSDS sheets published for this chemical.

Exposure to ethylene glycol from any source, including glycol heaters, can damage the central nervous system, heart and kidneys. Those who work with glycol heaters can be exposed to ethylene glycol by breathing or touching the substance. Vapor inhalation becomes an issue when the chemical is heated. Ethylene glycol has been found in at least 37 of 1689 National Priorities List sites identified by the Environmental Protection Agency.

EPA has set a drinking water guideline for ethylene glycol of 7,000 micrograms (7,000 µg/L) in a liter of water for an adult.

The American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) assigns ethylene glycol a ceiling limit value of 50 ppm (127 mg/m3) which should not be exceeded during any part of the working exposure.

OSHA limits the amount of ethylene glycol in workroom air to 50 ppm, based on the guidelines of the ACGIH.

Bruest HotCat offers a "greener," safer, and less costly alternative to glycol heaters that does not involve toxic or hazardous substances.

Bruest HotCat systems are also noiseless and easier to permit
in areas close to neighborhoods. And where glycol heaters
require substantial maintenance (dumping, etc.) there is virtually
no maintenance required with HotCat catalytic heaters.
