NEWINGTON, CT — A construction worker is in critical condition at Bridgeport Hospital after he suffered an electric shock while working on Willard Avenue Friday morning, police said.
Police said the man, who works as a roofer, made contact with utility wires while scaling a ladder at 466 Willard Ave. He suffered a shock and fell approximately 20 feet to the ground below.
The man, whose name was not released, was taken to Hartford Hospital and then transferred to the burn center at Bridgeport Hospital by Life Star helicopter, police said. He remains in critical condition.

The accident happened about 10:20 a.m., police said. A representative from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration was sent to inspect the job site.
