An
electrical malfunction caused a solar panel fire Wednesday morning at a
warehouse in Kalihi, a Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.
At about
9:30 a.m., callers reported smoke coming from the roof of a two-story
warehouse at 247 Puuhale Road, said HFD spokesman Kendall Ching.
Responding firefighters found two solar panels on fire.
Ching
said five companies responded, but one company was able to extinguish
the fire within 20 minutes, using fire extinguishers from their truck.
A fire investigator estimated damages at $16,000. The building was not damaged and no one was hurt.
