Bedford Park, Illinois
A
semitrailer driver was injured after his truck hit some power lines in suburban
Bedford Park early Wednesday.
About
3:30 a.m., emergency crews were called to the the 6600 block of South Nashville
Avenue in the southwest suburb, said Bedford Park Fire Department Capt. Kurt
Raber.
A
tarp covering the top of the truck's trailer was in a "raised
position" and hit the power lines, causing the tarp to catch fire, Raber
said. The truck tires also caught fire, but the truck did not.
The
truck's driver, a man, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
The man's age and condition was not immediately available.
The
crash damaged power lines and left more than 100 people without power, said
ComEd spokesman John Schoen.
Power
had been fully restored by about 5:15 a.m., Schoen said.
