BROWNSBORO, TX (KLTV) -
One person has been killed in a two-vehicle wreck
Thursday in Brownsboro.
The wreck, involving an 18-wheeler, stalled traffic on
westbound Highway 31, just past FM 3204.
Deputies say multiple witnesses reported that shortly
before 1 p.m. an East Texas woman was traveling westbound in a Honda on Highway
31 when her vehicle veered into the eastbound lane. A man driving an 18-wheeler
veered into the westbound lane to avoid her vehicle and when she attempted to
get back into the westbound lane, the vehicles collided.
The woman was killed during the impact. Officials have
not released her name, pending notification of the family. The driver of the
truck was not injured and there were no passengers in either vehicle.
“One of the witnesses was actually following her and
said that she had driven perfectly fine all the way from Chandler and didn't
know why she suddenly went over,” said Police Chief Thomas Robertson.
The truck was carrying a load of calcium to be used in
cattle feed. TXDOT crews were called to clean up oil leaking from the wrecked
car. The wreck is still under investigation and no citation was issued. If you
saw the wreck happen call the Brownsboro Police department at 903-852-6761.
No citations have been issued in the collision.
The four-lane highway was down to one lane most of the
afternoon .Highway was re-opened around 4 pm.
