A Louisiana man is suing over claims he was injured
aboard a drilling barge.
Tobias Benoit filed a lawsuit Nov. 10 in Galveston
County District Court against Baywater Drilling and Baywater Drilling
Management Partners, citing negligence.
According to the complaint, Benoit was employed as a
seaman aboard a mobile drilling barge named Atchafalaya on inland waters
of Louisiana and owned by the defendants. On Jan. 14, the suit states, he
slipped on a slippery substance on the floor and fell, sustaining serious
injuries to his neck, back, arms and head. The defendants are accused of
negligence in failing to properly train and supervise its crew or maintain a
safe work environment.
Benoit seeks medical and punitive damages, lost
earnings, loss of earning capacity, exemplary damages and attorney fees. Galveston
