A six-inch plastic high pressure gas line was damaged near 239th St and the Henry Hudson Parkway service road, causing a small leak and a traffic diversion this afternoon.

According to Sidney Alvarez, a spokesperson for Con Edison, the break occurred at approximately 1o'clock this afternoon, causing the NYPD to divert traffic away from the Monument while the FDNY and Con Edison repair crews worked on repair.

MTA buses were diverted during the evening rush hour along Independence Ave while crews were at work.

No customer outages were reported. No word as yet on what caused the incident.
