DALLAS, TEXAS
Police said a child and a driver were injured when a
pickup truck crashed into a Dallas home early Friday morning.
The truck flipped and collided with an SUV before
crashing through the front bedroom of a home in the 1400 block of
Holcomb Road, police said. The collision awoke homeowner Ericca
Iubio and her family, who were asleep at the time.
Iubio's mother and 4-year-old child were in the front
room when the truck hit, injuring the child. Iubio and her two other children
were in the back of the house and unharmed.
Neighbor Linda Spence said she ran to the home to help
Iubio and her son out of the wreckage.
"I was standing outside and she handed him to me
through the little hole where the bedroom used to be," she said.
A neighbor told NBC 5 that the driver walked away
from the scene after the crash. Police said they found him a few blocks away
and transported him to Baylor University Medical Center. There is no word
yet if he will be charged.
Iubio's SUV is insured, but authorities said her home
isn't.
