HIT AND RUN CRASH INVOLVING 3 VEHICLES IN GASTONIA, SC. TRACTOR TRAILER OVERTURNED AFTER COLLISION

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. —
A busy stretch of
Interstate 85 was closed early Wednesday morning in Gaston County after a
tractor-trailer overturned.
The northbound lanes of the interstate were blocked around exit 22 in Lowell after the 18-wheeler flipped on its side just before 8 a.m. Lanes for I-85 reopened just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Troopers said the wreck
is considered a hit-and-run. Officials said someone caused the accident, but
did not stop.
Troopers said they are
searching for a white passenger car.
A driver of a Tahoe was
in the left hand lane and had slowed because of traffic ahead
.
Someone in a
white passenger car hit her from behind, forcing the Tahoe in the path of the
tractor-trailer, according to troopers.
The tractor-trailer hit
the Tahoe and the tractor-trailer flipped over. The driver of the white car did
not stop, officials said.
The driver of the Tahoe
was not seriously injured.
