FIVE INJURED AFTER POLICE CRUISER COLLIDES WITH 2 VEHICLES WHILE TRANSPORTING SHOOTING VICTIM

NORTH PHILADELPHIA- Five
people were injured early Monday morning after a serious accident involving a
police cruiser. Two police officers were injured as a result of the three car
crash.
The crash occurred
shortly after 3:00 a.m. after police responded to a shooting on the 2900 block
of Cumberland Street.
Police responded to the
call to find a 24-year-old male shooting victim, who was shot in the legs 3
times.
According to the police,
the officers put the shooting victim in their cruiser, and activated the
cruisers lights and sirens, and began to transport him to Temple University
Hospital.
En route to the hospital
the cruiser was struck by a Lexus Sedan at 25th and Lehigh Streets. The impact
of that collision then sent the cruiser into another collision with a Chevy
Camaro.
Both of the officers and
the shooting victim were transported to Temple University Hospital. All three
of them are in stable condition
Neither the driver of the
Lexus or the Camaro had driver's licenses, and both escaped with minor
injuries.
