BURST WATER PIPE
CAUSES DAMAGE TO TRUMBULL COUNTY RECORDS IN OHIO

Records belonging to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's
office, Probate Court and other departments were damaged Sunday night when a
4-inch water pipe burst in the county's Wean Building on north Park Avenue.
Officials were assessing the damage this morning, but
Commissioner Frank Fuda said there is "a lot of damage again."
He said "again" because many of the records
were moved to the Wean Building from the Stone Building after it flooded in
summer 2013.
The county had moved 90 percent of the records belonging
to the Recorder's office and some other departments to the former First Place
Bank building on High Street, but workers were just starting to prepare the
boxes of files relating to prosecutors office criminal cases there, officials
said.
The Probate Court was handling its own records, but
apparently most of those remained in the Wean Building.
Fuda said the county plans to demolish the Wean building
and had applied for a grant to pay for it through the western Reserve Port
Authority.
A couple Probate workers have occupied the Wean building
in recent months, but it otherwise only houses records and some printing and
scanning equipment.
