A section of Highway 40 in Sarnia was expected to be closed through the afternoon after a tanker trailer turned over Monday morning.
Lambton OPP Const. Chris Doupe said it happened at approximately 8
a.m., not far from the intersection of Highway 40 and Plank Road.
A truck was pulling duel trailers north on a curve on the highway,
just south of Plank Road, when the driver lost control of the rear
trailer, Doupe said.
"Speed has been determined as a factor," he said.
"The rear trailer began to jackknife, at which point it became detached from the primary trailer and flipped on its side."
There were no injuries.
A male driver has been charged with careless driving, Doupe said.
A team from Community Awareness and Emergency Response contained an
undisclosed amount of diesel fuel that spilled at the scene, Doupe said.
Highway 40 was closed between Plank Road and McGregor Side Road, following the rollover.
Doupe said it was expected to be closed for several hours while the
tank was emptied of its remaining fuel so the trailer could be righted
and towed away.
