MARYLAND HEIGHTS,
Mo. (KMOV.com) –
The passenger of a minivan was killed after the vehicle spun out and was hit by a white pickup with a flatbed on westbound Interstate 70 Sunday night.
Around 11:20 p.m., according to the Missouri Highway Patrol, a passenger car driving westbound on the interstate hit a pickup truck that was stalled on the Blanchette Bridge, knocking it further into traffic lanes. The passenger vehicle drove from the scene to a safe area and contacted the Missouri Highway Patrol.
While the truck was in the traffic lanes, the minivan swerved and spun out, facing eastbound in the westbound lanes. After spinning out, a white pickup truck with a flatbed struck the minivan head on.
The impact of the collision killed a passenger of the minivan and seriously injured the driver.
When troopers arrived at the accident scene, the stalled pickup from the originally accident was gone and the driver of the flatbed pickup was missing but the vehicle was still on the scene.
Troopers are currently looking for the driver of the flatbed pickup. Troopers said they believe they know who he is but are not identifying him at this time.
The Missouri Highway Patrol plans to release more information about the incident sometime Monday.
