Natural Gas leak shuts down Broadway, forces evacuations in downtown Louisville, Kentucky

LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - 

Several downtown buildings were evacuated and Broadway from 6th to 8th Streets was closed Monday afternoon because of a gas leak at 7th and Broadway.

According to LG&E, contractors making some repairs in the area struck a 10" low pressure gas line at 2:25 p.m. it is considered a "low leak."

No one was injured.

People inside the federal courthouse sheltered in place.

Workers are working to cap the leak and repair the gas line. In the meantime, the Louisville Metro Police Department and Louisville Fire Department will maintain control of the site until the all-clear is given.
