A man driving an SUV in a crash that killed a motorcyclist Saturday night at the Washburn Road and
Camino Al Norte intersection was arrested on charges of DUI, North Las
Vegas police said.
The motorcyclist, Derrick Roland Singleton, 26, of North Las
Vegas died at University Medical Center after suffering critical injuries.
The driver of the SUV, Troy Marez, 50, of North Las Vegas
was booked at the Las Vegas City Jail on one count of felony DUI involving
death, one count of failing to yield and one count of duty to stop at the scene
of an accident, police said in a statement.
Officers were called to the intersection about 4:30 p.m.,
police said. Singleton crashed a motorcycle into the Chevrolet Equinox Marez
was driving when Marez didn’t yield when turning from Camino Al Norte into
Washburn.
Marez left the scene but witnesses led police to the SUV,
which then led them to Marez, police said. He was not injured in the crash.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with an SUV at Washburn
Road and Camino Al Norte on Saturday, North Las Vegas police.
The SUV driver was arrested on unknown charges, police
spokesman Aaron Patty said.
Officers responded to the intersection about 4:30 p.m, Patty
said.
The SUV was heading north on Camino Al Norte and making a
turn into Washburn, Patty said. That’s when the motorcyclist, who was
travelling south on Camino Al Norte, crashed into the SUV.
The male motorcyclist died at University Medical Center,
Patty said. Both he and the driver of the SUV, who was not injured, will be
identified by authorities at a later time.
The intersection was shut down while police investigated.
