EAST GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY
Two people have been killed in a two-vehicle accident on
Interstate 295 in East Greenwich Township on Sunday morning, police said, and
three others were injured. The two
people were killed after the car they were in struck the guard rail and another
vehicle.
New Jersey State Police said the accident occurred in the
highway's southbound lanes around mile marker 17.8.
The crash occurred before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, police said.
Police said three people who were injured in the crash have
been taken to a local hospital (Cooper University Hospital) for treatment.
Details about the extent of their injuries, the identities
of the victims and the cause of the crash were not immediately available. Based on the crash scene, excessive speed
appears to be one of the causes of the crash. The Acura smashed the guardrail and broke it; the guardrail then probably impaled the two people inside the car. Horrifying crash and smash.
The accident snarled traffic on the roadway this morning.
Police said one southbound lane is now open.

The smashed car appears to have a race car tow hook in the
back. It is an older model Acura with
aftermarket wheels and lowered suspension.
Clearly a “race-car” and that explains the massive smash. Speed was clearly the number one factor. People on 295 in that area are driving like
maniacs, some of them are reaching their final destination. RIP.
