HAZARD, KENTUCKY (AP)
One person was killed after a plane crashed in the Lower Lost Creek community of Perry County on Thursday.
Kentucky State Police were called to the crash
around 7 p.m. near Silas Bottom Road. A smaller model airplane was found
off of Highway 2446, also known as Lost Creek Road.
Troopers say one person was killed in the crash. That person has not yet been identified.
The plane has also not yet been identified due to damage from the crash.
The Perry County Sheriff's Department, Perry
County Ambulance, and several rescue squads assisted Kentucky State
Police with the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the
National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash scene on
Friday. Troopers will secure the area until their arrival.
The
crash happened about one mile away from the Wendell Ford Airport in
Perry County. So it's very possible the plane had just taken off.
