MANY CRASHES AND WRECKS IN NEVADA. WRECKS CLEARING, BUT NEVADA HIGHWAY POLICE ADVISES SLOWING GOING ON VALLEY ROADS

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
Slick roads and crashes throughout the Las Vegas Valley made
for congested morning commutes Friday.
At least 30 accidents on southern Nevada highways have been
reported since 6:30 a.m. And for that, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson
had two words: “Slow down.”
Traffic is getting around the third jack-knifed semi-trailer
of the day on the eastbound 215 Beltway offramp to southbound U.S. Highway 95.
The crash happened about 9:08 a.m., blocking the left travel lanes of the ramp,
according to Hixson. No injuries were reported, and no other vehicles were
involved.
Roads are re-opened on southbound Highway 95 near Cheyenne
Avenue, Hixson said. A two-vehicle wreck happened just after 8:30 a.m.,
blocking the left lanes. There were no injuries.
A FedEx double trailer jack-knifed on the Interstate 15
offramp leading to 215 Beltway east shortly after 7 a.m., closing all lanes,
Hixson said. No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.
Roads are re-opened there.
The second semitrailer carrying approximately ten gallons of
diesel jack-knifed on the southbound airport connector to 215 Beltway loop ramp
about 7:30 a.m., according to RTC. All lanes were blocked at one point but they
reopened after about an hour.
The National Weather Service is forecasting a quarter-inch
of rain Friday at McCarran International Airport, which would break the 1986
record of 0.17 inches.
“Looks like it’s gonna be gray, rainy and drizzly pretty
much all day today,” said NWS meteorologist Caleb Steele.
Steele says temperatures in Clark County will likely remain
in the 50s until Saturday. He expects that sunshine and 60-degree temperatures
should return Saturday afternoon.
