WHITNEY, TEXAS
An 81-year-old Fort Worth
man has died in a Dallas hospital of injuries he sustained in a vehicle crash
on Tuesday in Whitney.
Whitney police reported Thursday that Joseph Miller, 81,
died at Parkland Hospital, in Dallas, after he was taken there following a
crash at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday at Farm-to-Market 933 and State Highway 22, in
Whitney.
Funeral arrangements for Miller had not been finalized
Thursday.
Miller was flown by helicopter to Parkland in critical
condition following a collision between his small four-door car and an
18-wheeler at the highway intersection in Whitney.
The impact left the 18-wheeler, which was hauling dirt, in a
roadside ditch and the car in the center of the intersection, police said.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, Jerry Kelly, 56, of Joshua,
was taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center in
Waco in fair condition, police said.
Traffic was slowed in the area throughout the afternoon and
into the early evening while the damaged vehicles were removed.
