HEAD-ON COLLISION BETWEEN A PICKUP TRUCK AND A UTILITY REPAIR TRUCK TAKES THE LIFE OF ONE DRIVER IN RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA

work an accident that occurred between a utility bucket truck and a pickup
truck at the intersection of Anderson Dr. and Six Forks Rd. in Raleigh on
Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015. Police on the scene confirmed it was a fatal accident;
they didn't know how many people were involved.
RALEIGH, NC — A motorist was killed after a pickup truck and
electric utility truck collided at the intersection of Anderson Drive and Six
Forks Road on Thursday afternoon.
The accident took place about 2:50 p.m., when a white Ford
pickup truck driven by Toryally Paktiawal, 43, was traveling south on Six Forks
Road and collided with a United Electric Company utility truck driven by
Phillip Travis Smith, 26, who was attempting to make a left turn onto Anderson
Drive.
That initial impact caused Paktiawal’s vehicle to collide
with a 2005 Jeep Cherokee driven by John Allen Remling, 77, and occupied by
Jane Cook Remling, 78. The Remling’s vehicle had been stopped on Anderson Drive
at the intersection.
Paktiawal was pronounced dead at the scene. Smith was taken
to Rex Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Remlings were not
injured.
Patricia Smith, owner and president of the Benson utility
company, Smith had just completed one job involving the repair of electric
utility poles and was headed to another when the crash occurred.
